Jott spams Fossil students

Numerous Fossil Ridge High School students on January 20, 2017, have received multiple messages from an app called Jott. Invitations have been sent saying they they were from a friend or another student. The messaging app includes the ability to make group chats and send individual messages.

Jott’s Twitter claims to “only send invites when your friends explicitly invite you. We can never spam.” If a student chooses to download Jott and sync their contacts with the app in order to find more friends, the app will send a text to all of the person’s personal contacts inviting them to the app, and possibly giving the chance to start the same cycle.

The creators of the messaging app is Juxta labs, a company that has created several gaming apps. Despite several advertisement articles from trusted news networks such as CNN and Fox News, Jott has seemed to be untrusting to students at Fossil, and puts internet safety into question.
