On Wednesday April 12th the Lobos lacrosse team took on Arvada’s Ralston Valley High School. After dominating the game the Lobos took the 15-4 win over the Mustangs.

Lobos seniors Jake Higdon and Ben Rugh were the top scorers of the game. Higdon contributed  4 goals and 2 assists, while Rugh on the other hand, solidified the team’s win, scoring 5 goals that evening.

Ralston was able to keep a tight grip on the game during the first quarter. The Mustangs were able to obtain 2 goals opposed to the Lobos 3 goals as the quarter came to an end.

Following the first quarter, the Lobos dominated the field disallowing the Mustangs no more than one goal per quarter.

As the third and fourth quarter passed on, the Lobos were able to sit comfortably having reached  double digits on the scoreboard. The Lobos were able to pick up another 4 goals during the third, and the Mustangs only were able to score one.

The fourth quarter ended with the Lobos gaining another 3 goals while Ralston finished the game scoring one last goal.

Ralston resorted to play mostly defense the entire night. With only 4 allowed goals, they proved to be an inexperienced opponent opposed to the mighty giant that is the Rocky Mountain Lobos. “You can tell that they tried to give it their all.” claimed senior Zach West, “They were unable to beat our defense in drives and plays. Overall, if it wasn’t for our defense, it might of been a closer game than what actually ended up happening.”

Unfortunately, the Lobos were no match for Wheat Ridge on Friday April 14th.

The first quarter proved to be the only time the Lobos could keep up with their rival. By the end of the first quarter, the score was 3-2 Wheat Ridge.

Wheat Ridge continued to hammer the Lobos all the way through the rest of the game. The only other time the Lobos scored that evening was during the second quarter, scoring one goal.

Wheat Ridge scored a total of 12 points opposed to Rocky’s 3. “Wheat Ridge year after year proves to be a tough opponent.” recalled Lobos player Ben Walker, “It was a heavily defensive game on our part.”

The Lobos set out for Boulder to play their next game against Fairview on April 17th.

I would have liked if we got more information about the loss like we did with the win.

I thought that Emily did a really good job covering the full story and going into detail on how the game went giving the reader the impression as if they were there on the sideline cheering the lobos on
