Amy Healy is a 31-year-old German teacher at Fossil Ridge High School.

She was born and raised in Fort Collins, Colorado and lives here with her boyfriend.

She was born in Fort Collins, but has not always lived here. For two years as a child, she lived in Berlin, while her dad was a teacher there. He taught at the John F. Kennedy School, a bilingual school for American students in Germany. This is where she began to develop her passion for the German language, and soon she had fallen in love with the culture, as well.

After two years in Germany, she returned home to Fort Collins. After only a year back in the United States, she missed Germany enough to want to go back and improve her language skills. Through hard work, she got a scholarship to go back to Berlin as a high school exchange student. She lived with a host family and learned to speak German fluently.

After graduating high school, she went to college to continue studying German so that she could be a German teacher. After receiving her degree, Healy taught English for two years in Tanzania. One of her goals for the future is to teach abroad again.

Her favorite part about teaching is the students. She added, “I love my students. They are all so wonderful and they are so much fun.”

Outside of school, Healy enjoys climbing and hiking and loves to travel. She also works at an outdoor store.
