When Fossil Ridge High School’s Varsity and Junior Varsity teams flew out to Orlando, Florida to compete in the national championships, they set their goals high. Over the past few days, they have continued to make history time and time again.

On February 8, cheer competed for the first time in the Super Varsity Game Day division. They brought routines they performed on sidelines at Football games, including their fight song routine. Bringing their energy to the crowd, precision, and a great overall performance, they advanced into finals. They placed 16th, and were very proud of their performance in this difficult division.

Varsity cheer competed on February 9, and advanced into finals for the first time. They went to Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) nationals for the first time six years ago, and has been steadily placing higher every year. They brought a clean, sharp routine to the mats, giving it their all in finals, and won first in the UCA Large Varsity Division I.

Making even more history, JV came to compete in Orlando for the first time, after winning first place at state. They advanced into finals on February 9 as well. On February 10, they competed in finals, and placed 7th overall, being extremely successful for their first UCA nationals.

Fossil’s cheerleaders have been putting in hours upon hours of time all season. They have worked so hard to learn new skills and perfect their routines. Now, the cumulation of all those practices has come down to a few minutes, and everything paid off. Be sure to congratulate the cheer team when they return as they bring back their national title.
