The Fossil Ridge Baseball team has redeemed themselves after their previous loss against the Poudre Impalas with a win. The Sabercats had previously played the Impalas and did not get the outcome they expected. On April 3, 2019, the Sabercats came up short against Poudre, losing the game 5-6. The Sabercats had a different attitude going into this game and were ready to redeem themselves before playoffs.

On May 14, 2019, the Sabercats brought a new energy onto the field as they faced the Impalas again. There was no question who was the better team after the first two innings. The Sabercats came out strong and scored two runs in the first inning but the excitement was just getting started.

The Sabercats held their own against Poudre and kept the Impalas from scoring runs. The Impalas scored one run in the first inning and didn’t get any points put on the board until the fifth inning. The Sabercats played quick, aggressive defense which kept the Impalas from scoring.

Fossil kept their defense consistent throughout the rest of the game, letting Poudre only score three runs overall. Even though the Sabercats were winning throughout the whole game, they did not step on the brakes—they continued to fight until the end. The Sabercats had an amazing end to the sixth inning, with senior Jack Cosper hitting a two run home run.

The Sabercats won with an outcome of 7-3. This game was the Sabercats’ last regular season game before they head into playoffs. This team had changed their attitude and their energy over this regular season and the game was a bittersweet ending for the seniors on the team.

Playoff games have yet to be announced, but based on their performance this year, the Sabercats have a good shot of making it far in the 2019 playoff season.
