The Fossil Ridge soccer team lost their rematch against the Grandview Wolves 3-0 after a disappointing first half.

The Sabercats opened the game with a solid 20 minutes, controlling the ball and forcing plenty of high danger opportunities.

However the rest of the first half didn’t go as smooth, as the Wolves pushed back and pushed back hard. In the blink of an eye, Grandview scored three goals and took complete control of the game.

In comparison to the first half, the final forty minutes were slower in action. Fossil got back on the offensive attack, managing to maintain possession with crisp, concise passing. However Fossil couldn’t finish the job and put in a goal, as the team was held scoreless.

This was the Sabercats’ second game of the season, coming off a 2-2 tie on the road against Rock Canyon, another team from last year’s playoff run. The soccer team has scheduled a difficult road ahead for itself, as four of their six opponents finished top 15 in the state last year.

Despite being held winless in their first two games, Fossil still feels confident in their team. They will look to turn their fortune around in their next game at home against Horizon High School on August 30.
