In a 3-0 game, Sabercats triumph over Erie

Tuesday, October 10 pink filled the gymnasium, everything from shirts on spectators to ribbons in player’s hair, all in support of Breast Cancer awareness. Fossil led this pink-out, taking the win in just three sets, gaining their eleventh victory of the season.

The team started off strong in the first set, the starting server being Kaylee Piepho aiding the team for their first eight points. Although Erie made a small comeback, the Sabercats maintained the lead with a close final score of 25-21. 

The following two sets consisted of a similar pattern, Sabercats showing off their skills. Delaney Ewing and Erin Herrmann who were known for making several kills throughout the night, while setter Ally Nowak set up several kills, and Kaylee Piepho dumped over the net on Erie Tigers.

Unlike the first set, the Sabercats did not give Erie a chance to make a comeback, leading the set by eight points.

With this win they remain undefeated in their conference this season, “I feel like [the wins] just make it as the season goes on, it builds more confidence,” explains outside hitter Danielle Burchett, who is in her final year with Fossil. 

Fossil won the last set 25-11 in a fast three-set sweep. The stands were not only celebrating their win but celebrating things they also won throughout the game, whether it was a new Scheels hat or a photography session with Ben Bradley, a highly talented local photographer.
