Robot Reveal Night

Reveal night

Ridgebotics raised $6,000 for the team at their Robot Reveal Night. They also show off a reveal video showing what they were working on during the season and at the end of the night they do a demo drive of the robot.

“We do this auction where we set a couple of things to raise some funds for the team,” Warren Brewington says.

Their robot worked well. They demonstrated all parts of it that they set out to at the beginning of the season, as well as a Two Note Autonomous which was pretty huge for the week one competition

“It sounds like a lot, but that’s just enough to get us into one competition, it’s just our entrance fee”, says Ryan Brittingham.

The highlight of Reveal Night

Both Brittingham and Brewington exclaimed that the highlight of the night was the robot demo.

Ryan Brittingham says, “A lot of people don’t realize how fast our robots move unless you see it in person, it’s hard to gauge but they cruise.”

The gearing on their current modules is meant for 16 feet per second and a scale of 100 pounds so it moves pretty fast.

Brewington says, “Everyone was looking forward to getting to see the robot drive around so it was like fireworks at the end of this little celebration.”

How Reveal Night impacted the program

Brittingham says, “The biggest part of reveal night for all of us was the community outreach. The money that comes in from the silent auction and raffle helps us a lot because being in the program and competitions are very expensive so everything we get from Reveal Night is a huge help.”

Brewington exclaims “We explain to the parents what we are doing and what First is all about. Then we will show people who came by and the sponsors that the money and donations they gave us, what we put that towards, and how much it means to the team.”
