Even though school is in session and, as of Sept. 22, it’s now officially fall, it still feels like summer and with the heat day on Aug. 30, students are still dressing for the warm weather.
Unfortunately summer attire isn’t necessarily the most appropriate choice for school as Fossil Ridge High School Dean of Students Ryan Wulff explained Sept. 25.
In past years, a FRHS Ridge TV segment or a mention during one of the first pep assemblies of the school year reminded students about the dress code enforced by the FRHS staff. This year has been a little different with over a month of first semester already gone and still no reminder. “Typically we do that with Ridge TV” Dean Wulff said, “I’m not sure if they are planning one for this year.”
While it might not seem like the FRHS dress code (back, bust, butt and belly covered) is being enforced, it is. Dean Wulff said he, as well as the rest of the staff, is implementing it every day. “[Students think] because everyone does it, I can do it.”
However, this year’s dress code is not more relaxed. “It’s being enforced as it always is,” Dean Wulff said.
Dean Wulff also mentioned that the lax behaviour this year may be attributed to the extremely hot conditions students were under while at school in August. With one of the few Poudre School District’s closure due to excessive heat happening Aug. 30, it’s no wonder students are dressing lighter.
