Sunflowers and Sundresses: Styling sweatshirts

Sunflowers and Sundresses: Styling sweatshirts

Senioritis is hitting me a little harder than expected, and in ways I was not expecting. Not only am I struggling to motivate myself in school, I am struggling to keep my outfits from looking like I slept in them the night before. Everyone wants to be comfortable and cozy in their clothes; tugging and pulling at everything is no fun. I have said it before, comfortable and fashion do not have to be enemies. In light of my laziness, today is all about styling sweatshirts.

The coziest sweatshirts tend to be the huge, bulky ones, but just because it is not very fashionable that does not mean that the overall look has to be that way too. To avoid looking grimy, try looking grunge. Pair your favorite baggy sweatshirt with some patterned leggings, combat boots and a beanie. A new beauty in the fashion world is the sweatshirt that does not look like one. They have cute designs and patterns, but they don’t lose their cozy style. These look best with skinny jeans, riding boots, and a statement necklace.

The next best thing about sweatshirts is that you can actually dress them up for a night out, yes you read that right. Pullover sweatshirts can be insta-glammed with a button up shirt underneath. Pop the collar over the top and roll the sleeves of the button up over the sweatshirt. This look looks even better with a beautiful statement necklace to add emphasis to the collars. To dress up the look even more for a dinner date, match the pullover and button up combination with a pencil skirt, tights and fabulous flats. This look would be perfect for a dinner date, you can stay cozy and look drop dead amazing all at once.

Scarves, being my second favorite cozy thing, pair perfectly with a sweatshirt. A pullover sweatshirt with a scarf piles on the happiness and the need for a warm cup of tea and a movie (maybe not the best for my senioritis). Stick to leggings for this look, but if you want to dress it up a little, jeans would still look great.
