Sunflowers and Sundresses: Midi skirts and midi shirts

Although it’s been a little windy as of late, the warm sun is coming back. Brace yourselves, sunflowers, spring is upon us. Spring fashion fills me with a light hearted feeling that no other season seems to bring. It is time to pull out your sundresses and upbeat colors.

If bold colors are to fall, then pastels are to spring. Pretty pinks and mellow mints create a soft, angelic look to match the newly blooming flowers. Sorbet hues will look the best with floating skirts and cheerful dresses.

If you are afraid of mini-skirts and long maxis, but you want to flaunt your legs, be ready to embrace this trend: the midi skirt. This lovely length stops at about your mid-calf, hence the adorable name. Midi skirts are stunning in patterns, and in my personal favorite, in leather.. I’m obsessed with this dripping red skirt featured in Harper’s Bazaar.  They create a drop-the-jaw outfit when paired with the next spring trend, crop tops. The two together keep the look balanced with an equal amount of skin being covered yet exposed.

Crop tops were everywhere this summer, but don’t expect them to vanish into the background. These mini shirts offer the playful fun that spring fashion should bring. Couple these cuties with graphic prints and feel adorable. Forever21 was purr-fect in their design of this cutie.

What would this column be if I didn’t mention sundresses? This year shift dresses are making their mark. The loose fitting garbs are drool worthy and so comfortable. A shift dress like this one from BooHoo styled with a statement necklace, wavy hair, and embellished sandals might as well be gold. Floral dresses won’t be disappearing either. However, rather than tiny prints, look for big, bold, and beautiful ones. The larger the print the better, make a statement. This one from Asos deserves its own award.

Let’s be happy, spring is finally here! Express your care-free side with spring fashion. Stay beautiful, sunflowers.
