The Other Woman Movie Review
109 min, PG-13, Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann, Kate Upton, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, directed by Nick Cassavetes
The Other Woman, directed by Nick Cassavetes has been buzzing ever since it came out on big screens on April 25, 2014. Although the movie critics rated it with low scores and negative comments, after watching it on opening night, I cannot say it was anything like they said it would be. This heartwarming romantic comedy left me laughing constantly throughout the film bringing a relive of stress I much needed with finals coming up.
Although many have compared this movie with others from the past, such as John Tucker Must Die and more, I found this film completely original with an unexpected view on cheating and breakups. When Kate King (Leslie Mann) finds out her husband Mark (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) is cheating on her with not one but many different women, instead of confronting her husband about it and getting angry with his main mistress Carly (Cameron Diaz), she befriends Carly and goes on a mission to find out who the other women are who her husband is cheating with. Kate is the complete opposite of most women and would rather get revenge with her husband’s girlfriends than get a divorce. This movie also has an unexpected twist at the end giving the ultimate revenge plan for Kate and leaving her husband Mark in a very ‘messy’ situation.
This is one of the rare movies I can say I liked the three girls better than the main guy. The actresses played their roles perfectly and showed that the best way to get over a guy is to have fun and lean on your girlfriends rather than be depressed alone.
Unlike other romantic comedies with funny moments and scenes, The Other Woman, was a constant comedy with nonstop twists and events which left me laughing nonstop. This movie was a perfect way to end my Friday night and an even better way to start the weekend. If you are in over your head with AP exams and finals and would like a mood reliever, there is no better movie to watch then this.
The movie critics might have been bad but check out these comments people have posted about the movie from imdb.com:
