Alternative Fridays: Our summer playlist

[1.] “Room To Breathe” (You Me At Six, Cavalier Youth) –With catchy riffs and lead singer Josh Franceschi’s powerful vocals, Room To Breathe is an  instant classic.

[2.] “Millennia” (Crown The Empire, The Resistance: Rise Of The Runaways) – Lyrics like “I know young love is just a dream, we were on only seventeen/Another broken heart now just a memory” describes any summer romance that came to an end. This song is surprisingly upbeat with message that many can relate to.

[3.] “Semi-Automatic” (twenty one pilots, Vessel) – Filled with electronic elements, “Semi-automatic” is an amazing party opener. Tyler Joseph has an individual voice that catches anyone’s ears with the first line, “Night falls, with gravity/the earth turns, from sanity.”

[4.] “Proof “(Paramore, self-titled) – With standout guitar chords by member Taylor York, this song is easily loved by everyone who listens.This song is perfect for jam sessions by yourself or with your friends.

[5.] “Rock Bottom”(Modern Baseball, You’re Gonna Miss It All) – “My head is on the verge of exploding/No amount of aspirin or pizza could help this from hurting” Say hello to your classic pop-punk summer jam. This song is essential when driving around with your friends on hot summer nights.

[6.] “Eloise” (Say Anything, self-titled) – Are you looking for a song full of interesting vocab? Well, this song is for you. Lyrics like “Messiah complex lead a fickle flu/The lord would never snitch” shout out an angsty vibe that any teenager would repeat to their friends.

[7.] “For Baltimore” (All Time Low, Don’t Panic) – “Casually dropping a line, a designed to keeping you next to me/I don’t wanna say goodnight” this song perfectly describes a summer night spent with your friends. With a heavy drum and guitar beat, it drew a crowd in near.

[8.] “The Lines” (Beartooth, Disgusting) –When you need something ridiculously catchy yet heavy, Beartooth is your band. The Lines is the first song on their debut album, Disgusting, that easily appeals to your rebellious side.

[9.] “Starving For Friends” [feat. Vic Fuentes of Pierce The Veil] (Slaves, Through Art We Are All Equals) – As a newly formed band, Jonny Craig uses brilliant lyric choice to be an apology to everyone he hurt. Featuring Vic Fuentes, a post-hardore singer to the song bring it to another level and makes the song ten times more enjoyable.

[10.] “Late” (Issues, self-titled) – “And when the sun comes up again and we’re gone/We’ll remember every beautiful thing that went wrong” featuring mostly clean vocals from the band’s frontman Tyler Carter, “Late” is fantastic for summer reminiscing.

[11.] “Right Back At It Again” (A Day To Remember, Common Courtesy)–“So here I am/I’m right back at it again” If you don’t have a playlist filled with only songs that get you psyched, you should, and this song should be the first on the playlist. Guitarists Neil Westfall and Kevin Skaff will have your heart racing in seconds with help from Jeremy McKinnon’s epic vocals. Be sure to prepare yourself for the breakdown.

[12.] “Twenty-Twenty Surgery” (Taking Back Sunday, Louder Now)–Taking Back Sunday is that classic pop-punk band you have known for years. Twenty-Twenty Surgery is a song that is perfect for any situation that holds memories.

[13.] “Are We The Waiting/St. Jimmy” (Green Day, American Idiot)–From one of the most influential bands of pop-punk, Green Day’s “Are We The Waiting/St. Jimmy” is a must have.

[14.] “What’s My Age Again?” (Blink-182, Enema Of The State)–Is it really summer without Blink-182? Their hit “What’s My Age Again?” is nearly impossible not to sing along to, and instantly adds a careless, playful vibe to the atmosphere. It’s a must have for your summer mixtapes.

[15.] “Kiss Me Again” [feat. Alex Gaskarth of All Time Low] (We Are The In Crowd, Best Intentions)–This song is a perfect example of an easy, sing-along summer tune. “At a mile a minute my heart beats to the limit when I’m with you/You’re more than a friend” with a story that can relate to any teenager, Tay Jardine and Alex Gaskarth mesh together amazingly.
