November, the month of Thanksgiving, where people are confused on if they should be celebrating post-Halloween or pre-Christmas. November is by far one of the chillest months of the year, both literally and metaphorically. Here’s the playlist that matches that vibe.
Hey Now – Matt and Kim
This track uses the trombone in a way that you’ve never heard before, and seriously just makes you want to get up and dance. Matt and Kim is a unique duo that composes music for any mood you can think of, and you always end up happy by the time the songs end.
Breezeblocks – alt-J
alt-J is a relatively new up and coming band in the states, their single Breezeblocks topping the alternative US charts after they’ve been on the UK ones for months. They put on a crazy good live show, making seeing them in concert a thing that should certainly be on your bucket list. This song just sends out such a chill vibe, you’ll be feeling like even more of a hipster by the time you’re done listening to it.
Soul Meets Body – Death Cab for Cutie
Throwing it back to Death Cab for Cutie’s legendary album, Plans, Soul Meets Body still lives up to all your expectations. With a cool beat accompanied with the tame gang vocals of Ben Gibbard, the lead singer, this song is the epitome of November.
The Love Club – Lorde
The Love Club is a very chill song on Lorde‘s most recent album, the synth instrumental and strong beat are a perfect compliment Lorde‘s surreal vocals, creating a very out of body experience.
Emperor’s New Clothes – Panic! At The Disco
With the spooky music video that accompanies this fantastic song, Panic! At The Disco’s newest single titled Emperor’s New Clothes definitely falls under the ‘post-Halloween’ category. With Brendon Uries insanely high vocal range, this song is totally a November hit.
November Has Come – Gorillaz
Though it might be pretty obvious why this song is on the November playlist, more than just the title inspired us to choose this song. With it’s indie-feel and unique vocals, this song draws us in and reminds us of pumpkin pie and cool November nights.
Anna Sun – WALK THE MOON
Anna Sun has a more pop vibe to it and it reflects all that we love about Walk the Moon. Between the dance instrumentals and the cool vocals, this song is sure to have you jamming out all month.
Lose It – Oh Wonder
Pulling at your heartstrings, Lose It has us snapping and swaying throughout the entire thing. The smooth undertones make you never want to skip it.
Sweater Weather – The Neighbourhood
The chilly winds and fall weather make Sweater Weather perfect for this month. It surely is sweater-time, and the unique vocals and fantastic runs create a perfect addition to this month’s playlist.
Stressed Out – twenty one pilots
Finishing the playlist off with one of my personal favorites, Stressed Out by twenty one pilots is a very strange song that somehow puts all of its weird elements to make a fantastic track. It has a 90s indie vibe to the whole thing and leaves you confused. The whole thing just seems kind of off, which is something that’s hard to achieve. It’ll definitely leave you humming the beat afterwards though.
