One of the biggest hobbies for any age is going to see movies in the theaters. Based on viewers’ opinions, we are able to see the most favorable movies of the year. Here are the top 5 movies of 2015; Fast and Furious 7, Creed, The Martian, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay part 2, and Maze Runner: Scorch Trials.
The last movie of the series, Fast and Furious 7 was about Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel), Brian O’Conner (Paul Walker) and the rest of the crew separated to return to more normal lives after defeating international terrorist Owen Shaw. However, Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham), Owen’s older brother, is thirsty for revenge. A slick government agent offers to help Dom and company take care of Shaw in exchange for their help in rescuing a kidnapped computer hacker who has developed a powerful surveillance program. The film is remembered and favored because of the emotional ending scene that hit home for many fans. Of course, fans geared up for an emotional goodbye to the late actor Paul Walker, but many are admitting to leaving the theater in tears after watching a moving tribute to him at the end.
Creed, a newly favored film of the year is about Adonis Johnson (Michael B. Jordan) never knew his famous father, boxing champion Apollo Creed, who died before Adonis was born. However, boxing is in his blood, so he seeks out Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) and asks the retired champ to be his trainer. Rocky sees much of Apollo in Adonis, and agrees to mentor him, even as he battles an opponent deadlier than any in the ring. With Rocky’s help, Adonis soon gets a title shot, but whether he has the true heart of a fighter remains to be seen. Many viewers were impressed with how they incorporated the all-time favorite movie “Rocky” and thought the Rocky legacy was alive and thriving in this film.
When astronauts blast off from the planet Mars, they leave behind Mark Watney (Matt Damon), presumed dead after a fierce storm. With only a meager amount of supplies, the stranded visitor must utilize his wits and spirit to find a way to survive on the hostile planet. Meanwhile, back on Earth, members of NASA and a team of international scientists work tirelessly to bring him home, while his crew-mates hatch their own plan for a daring rescue mission. “The Martian” hit a powerful sweet spot: blending tense action, captivating science, and beautiful 3D cinematography into an emotional character story.
The epic global phenomenon, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay part 2, came to an eventful end, getting a lot of great reviews from viewers. Realizing the stakes are no longer just for survival, Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) teams up with her closest friends, including Peeta (Josh Hutcherson), Gale (Liam Hemsworth) and Finnick for the ultimate mission. Together, they leave District 13 to liberate the citizens of war-torn Panem and assassinate President Snow, who’s obsessed with destroying Katniss. What lies ahead are mortal traps, dangerous enemies and moral choices that will ultimately determine the future of millions. Many viewers were surprised with the ending, they didn’t see it coming but thought it was a good way to end the movie series.
The 5th top movie of 2015 was the Maze Runner: Scorch Trials. Transported to a remote fortified outpost, Thomas and his fellow teenage Gladers find themselves in trouble after uncovering a diabolical plot from the mysterious and powerful organization WCKD. With help from a new ally, the Gladers stage a daring escape into the Scorch, a desolate landscape filled with dangerous obstacles and crawling with the virus-infected Cranks. The Gladers only hope may be to find the Right Hand, a group of resistance fighters who can help them battle WCKD. Viewers were impressed with the amount of action and suspense and many are looking forward to the next part of the series.
If you are ever bored and have nothing to do, go out and see a movie, you never know if you are watching the number one rated movie of the year.
