Sami Steffeck breaks basketball school record

Sami breaks opponent's ankles

Tuesday, January 12 the girls Varsity basketball team tipped off against Legacy at their home court. The Lady Sabercats came out strong and put the game away early, winning 76-29, allowing all of the players that suited up to play.

It was not any other game for Sami Steffeck, she ended the game breaking a school record for points in a game that was set by Savannah Smith when she played for Fossil back in 2014. Steffeck broke the school record by one point, scoring 31 points in the memorable game. She also had 10 rebounds, 5 assists, and 8 steals ending the night with a double-double and nearly a triple-double. Not only did Steffeck break a school record, she was 2 steals away from breaking Smith’s steals in a game record. The week of January 11th was very successful yet emotional for Steffeck.

Steffeck states, “Breaking the record was super cool and really exciting. It was a pretty cool feeling to break one of Savannah Smith’s records, since I look up to her as a basketball player.”

I think you made a lot of great improvements that helped clear some information up. But, I do think the very beginning paragraph strays away from the point of the article. Maybe focus on Sami’s personal game and then go into the details of the team’s game.

The article could have used a little more detail, like some more thoughts from Steffeck or her teammates or coaches. Otherwise a good improvement from the first time

This article is astonishingly better than the past one. If anything, personally, I would try to fit in the topic in beginning of the first paragraph. But for this article, it works out quite well! I like how you don’t tell the audience the past record. However, you explain it by stating the new record achieved by Sami Steffect, and then tell the audience how much she beat the record.

    Stay Gold,

It was really good. It was confusing what the double-double and double-triple were and what the meanings of those two terms are. The emotion was a little confusing too. But over-all, it was a great article.

This article is a great improvement from the last version, I would explain more about the emotional effect on her. Also the amount of detail made the article interesting to read, i really liked how you went into detail about not only her record but what she also did well and a record that she almost broke.

I really like the improvement from the original article. Now the reader can tell the new record and the previous record. It is also very informative about the rest of her other stats from the game, showing what a successful game she had.

I would’ve liked to hear more from Steffeck since she was in the spotlight. Otherwise it was detailed and was informative.

This article definitely improved a lot from the first time; there’s a lot more detailed information. As a non-basketball player, I would appreciate a little bit of clarification on the specific terms, such as the types of steals.

It would of been cool if it went into a Humans of Fossil feature, but it has improved from the original. 😀

You had really good details about the game, but I think it could’ve been a little longer.

I think this is a lot better than the first one but maybe add more details where needed to better explain the topic.

Reading this article, I was honestly dissapointed. You article promised a broken record, which it mentioned, but I still don’t know what for? Is it the 31 points, the rebounds, what was it exactly? It seem very confusing.

Pretty good, but somewhat bland at the same time. Go a little bit more in depth with how great of a feeling it was for her to break the record.
