On Oct. 30 at 7:30 p.m. the “I Was Here,” musical talent show will be held at Fossil Ridge High School. The show is completely free; however, donations benefiting the St. Jude Children’s Hospital are greatly appreciated. “My goals are to raise money and impress the crowd,” senior and event coordinator Chad Cocquyt said.

The event is being organized by Cocquyt and co-coordinator and senior Anna Kruger, with the help of the FRHS choir director Karen DeVries. “Last year, Mrs. DeVries had the initial idea of doing a talent show, but for music. It was limited to choir members only,” Cocquyt said. “This year, my hope was to make it a bigger event and have open auditions.”

All performers made it through a complex audition process. The auditions began Oct. 3 and callbacks occurred Oct. 5. In the first round of auditions participants had 30 seconds to perform, and were judged on “preparation of the song, song choice, tone, emotion, and stage presence.” At the second audition participants performed their entire performance. “Audience members attending should expect to see performances by the most talented musicians and singers at FRHS,” Cocquyt said. The final lineup includes 14 acts.

5. Amy Borngrebe (vocals) and Daniel Stroh (guitar): Evening Kitchen by Band of Horses

6. Anna Bonjour (vocals and piano): Fondu au Noir

7. Bethany Haile (vocals and guitar): Never Grow Up by Taylor Swift

8. Katherine Trupkiewicz (piano): Great Smoky Mountains

9. Whitney Hammond (vocals): Dark Side by Kelly Clarkson

10. Amber Baack (vocals and piano): Different Colored Eyes, an original song

11. Christine Scoufis (vocals and guitar): Viva La Vida by Cold Play

12. Amanda Michaels (vocals and piano): Dear Mr. Ex, an original
