Two other Fossil wrestlers came incredibly close to securing a spot in state but came up short. Ian Knoll and Zach Klingner were competing for 5th but if they won, they would be given the chance to wrestler the 4th place wrestler to go to state. Knoll lost his match and placed 6th while Klingner won his match and got the chance to wrestle for a spot in state. Klingner, however, did not win his final match and placed 5th.
