Sabercat Stories: Kara Olsen

Kara Olsen is a 32 year-old art teacher at Fossil Ridge High School. It is Olsen’s first year at Fossil. She was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. Olsen moved to Colorado Springs in 2004, and in 2009, she moved to Fort Collins.
Olsen will have been married to her husband for 10 years in May. She lives with a cat, a dog, and, of course, her husband. She attended the University of Northern Colorado.
After college, she worked in a bank, but Olsen very quickly decided that banking is not her thing. So she decided to be a teacher for the subject she loves the most: art.
She decided to be a teacher because she wants to help people, and it was always her dream when she was a child. Her favorite thing about Fossil is the amazing sense of community.
In her free time she enjoys painting, hiking, gardening, photography and spending time with her husband and pets. Olsen describes herself as “kind, outgoing, and silly”.
Her plan for the future is to teach until retirement and to be the best teacher she can be. She also wants to work more on her art.
