WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD
Thor 2: The Dark World
If you’re planning on keeping up with the Avengers mania, you must see this movie! Fans and actors alike have been dropping hints about the necessity of this movie to the next Avengers. But to be honest, even though not excellently produced, the first Thor seemed to connect most of the major characters and plot for the Avengers. But when you have such a super team as Iron Man, Captain America, the Hulk and Thor, it’s hard to find worthy opponents on earth. In any case, be excited to see the hunk Hemsworth brother as his royal perfectness teaming with Loki (right!?) to fight new alien adversaries. Get pumped up! The premiere of this cosmic superhero movie is Nov. 8.
Hunger Games and The Hobbit (not superheroes, but c’mon)
Okay, quick break. Even though these movies aren’t considered superhero movies, let’s admit that they are a couple of amazing heroines and, to me, heroes. The Hunger Games: Catching Fire sequel drops on Nov. 22 continuing Katniss’ fight for survival to save her people from the Capitol. Bilbo, on the other hand, is resuming his journey to the Lonely Mountain with an entourage of dwarves trying to reclaim their homeland. Bilbo is such a lazy and scared hero, it’s hilarious to watch him take care of the muscular, enduring dwarves. Bilbo, Gandalf, and the 13 dwarves continue their journey Dec. 13. So a little shout-out to the non-hero superheroes; awaiting your releases!
Captain America 2: The Winter Soldier
Now that the Avengers is out and made a huge box office success, Marvel is gearing up their Avengers for update sequels. Captain America 2: the Winter Soldier is releasing in March 2014 and has Chris Evans (a.k.a. Captain America) coping with the modern world and working for S.H.E.I.L.D., as seen in the Avengers, and taking on new threats to Washington D.C. with the Black Widow. Those of you excited to see our All-American hero back watch out for the spring: this movie’s set with twists and turns you won’t expect!
Amazing Spiderman 2
To begin with, it has been confirmed that the Amazing Spiderman movies are set for a 3 and 4 in 2016 and 2018. Now that’s planning ahead!! Anyways, the Amazing Spiderman 2 is of course, looking into Peter’s past and finding out his parents’ fate. This movie will be chalk-full of villains, which could be a good and bad thing. The Green Goblin (Dane DeHaan), Electro (Jamie Foxx) and Rhino (Paul Giamatti) are all predicted to show in this sequel. So get ready to watch some intense detective work and action scenes by our young hero!
X-Men: Days of Future Past
There isn’t much on the storyline for this movie except that the X-Men crew is sending Wolverine back into the past to stop a momentous event from occurring. Many are still waiting for details to be released and it is rumored that the trailer will be premiering before the Thor 2 movie. Their release date is set for May 2014 and begs the question: will there be a reboot of X-Men to look for in the future? Either way, X-Men fans are geared up for another installment.
Avengers 2: Age of Ultron
Alright Avengers fans, the moment has come. Ever since the first Avengers hit the theatres, producers, directors and actors have been anticipating its sequel. The movie, set for 2015, is already getting a lot of anticipation from impatient fans. All that has been released so far is their opponent, Ultron who is apparently a super villain on steroids. In any case, this is going to be an action-packed thriller; the question is whether it will live up to the original.
Ant Man
Set for a 2015 release, the new Ant Man film may or may not be tied to the Avengers. There is no statement pledging the superhero to the group so far and releasing the year of the Avengers 2 film it is unlikely he will be involved. Biochemist Dr. Hank Pym’s formula goes awry, creating the Ant Man who can communicate with insects. Either way it will be exciting to see what they make of him!
Rumors of movies to come:
As far as rumored movies go, there’s a lot coming up, especially in the DC world. The Justice League is debating a new line of movies in an attempt to live up to the Avengers franchise. In any case here are some more rumored movies:
Justice League
Green Lantern 2
Batman Reboot
Venom
Deadpool
