Finals are fast approaching, and I can just feel the anxiety in the air. Particularly for seniors; getting those semester grades up is a must and can give everyone unhealthy amounts of stress. So instead of panicking and getting headaches over school like I so often do, step back for a moment and find perspective.
1. Fear your own power to shape your future.
2. Don’t let your fear control you: embrace mistakes.
3. Don’t fear others, but still hold their opinions in high regard. (Respect)
4. Live so you don’t go to bed with regrets. (Integrity)
5. Try hard every day. (Determination)
6. Recognize those who are trying hard on your behalf. (Gratitude)
7. Find your own standards and reach them; be proud of yourself. (Excellence)
If you couldn’t tell, save the first two points, I defined our RIDGE standards in my own words; words that seem more applicable to everyday life. And because I want to keep this letter short and sweet, I’ll end with this:
Whenever you’re feeling overwhelmed or hopeless, close your eyes and think of all you’ve done and all you will do. Imagine how this day or this week or this year will affect your whole life.
When the world seems too big for you to handle, just make it smaller.
