Same Old Love doesn’t stray from Selena’s style

In Selena Gomez’s new song “Same Old Love”, she stays in her usual realm of music, not straying much from the modern repetitive pop music. It is a great addition to Selena’s new album Revival, it hit #2 on the Billboard + Twitter Chart, only behind Justin Bieber’s “What Do You Mean?”

The beginning starts out really smooth with a nice beat, but that beat continues throughout the whole song. The lyrics also start out really creative and sing along worthy, but Selena slips into repeating “I’m so sick of that same old love, my body’s had enough. Oh”, over and over for the remainder of the song. There is very little variance.

About a minute to half a minute before the end of the song, I got what I was looking for. Selena’s voice was faded out and really emphasized the beat. It seemed as if the world slowed down they went into a really smooth, mesmerizing feel, with a low voice singing the chorus, and Selena occasionally being brought in with a dreamlike tone. Afterwards it went back to the chorus as it was before, but this time I didn’t mind it as it was a short while before the end of the song and it fit well after having a break.

“Same Old Love” is a great modern dancing song that you would hear at a homecoming or prom type setting and although it is repetitive, I would highly recommend it to any teen searching for a new, fun pop song.
