Haleigh Copeland, a sophomore at Fossil Ridge, is involved in many activities and sports, she loves art, specifically drawing.

Copeland was born in Plano, Texas, and lived there for the first year of her life with her older brother, Tyler, and her two parents. She then moved to Saint Helens, Oregon and stayed there until fifth grade, when she moved to Fort Collins, Colorado. It was here that Copeland discovered her love for the clarinet. Her career started in seventh grade at Preston Middle School, and lives on now as she plays with the marching band.. Now in her second year of marching band, Copeland is in the select symphonic band and she gave up playing soccer for her new passion. Originally, she played for Arsenal soccer for four years when she then switched to solely focusing on band and stopped playing soccer. “Mr. Berard’s class is a great one to be in and he’s a really awesome teacher,” she states while mentioning her favorite hobbies.

Alongside band, Copeland spends her limited free time drawing and painting. Her most recent project is a detailed drawing of Stitch, from the Disney movie, Lilo and Stitch. In the past, she has drawn a very indepth colored drawing of falling feathers and another drawing of lion colored with Prismacolors.

With her new dedication to the clarinet, she finds that she has little time for other activities like soccer or drawing, but does not regret her choice to stick so strongly to the Fossil Ridge Marching Band. “Our band works together as a family. Some people would look at us and say we’re crazy for wanting to stand out in the rain on a field, moving from spot to spot, but it’s more than that. It’s a passion, excellence and determination that brings us together. The band members have become some of my closest friends”.
