7:30 in the Old Supreme Court Chambers: a day at Capitol Hill

7:30 A.M. More or less 20 students, gathered from across the state, have convened in the Old Supreme Court Chambers at the Colorado Capitol. Despite the early hour, this event represents a rare opportunity for the present student journalists: for the following two hours, they will be given the chance to participate in a press conference, providing valuable insight into the field of journalism.

Capitol Hill Day, hosted annually by the Colorado Student Media Association, offers just this: an opportunity to simulate a political press conference, giving students insight into both workings of the state government and the processes by which professional reporters gain information. This year, the representatives present for questions were Barbara McLachlan and Paul Lundeen.
