Just in case you forgot…

Wake up!

Nanga ChungagWake up, get ready, go to school, eat, do homework, go to sleep. When did it get this bad? I mean, I remember when school used to be fun and my mom didn’t have to throw cold water on my face (I’m pretty sure that’s what made her morning), that I didn’t beg some magical force in the universe to let something happen to my school just so I could sleep in, that my biggest excitement of the day was that there was something new on my Netflix queue, or my favorite writer on Wattpad had finally updated.

Oh, don’t forget after school activities, which, by the way, include having to call Mommy to come pick me up because I missed the bus, getting lectured on the way home (if she even comes and pick me up) about how she doesn’t even know how you do it.  Then getting home to realize that the day is not over, by the heavy load on your back, therefore trudging upstairs to your room to complete your teachers’ gift to you.

Then, bam! Friday comes along and I’m thanking the heavens only to get home and realize that I have absolutely nothing planned for the weekend. I might hop on my laptop and check my Facebook and see all my “friends” having a great life, smiling, and laughing. Then I scroll down and come upon the coveted duck face, and for a moment I stop and realize that that duck face is mocking me, basically telling me all the things that I don’t have.

Well guess what? I’m alive, I’m beautiful, and I wrote this, so obviously I’ve achieved something in life. No matter how much of a rut you feel you’re stuck in; remember life is what you make it.
