Cambri Van Tassell, a junior at FRHS, is very involved in the school. Throughout high school being involved in school clubs, organizations, and honor societies has been a big priority for Van Tassell.  Currently, she is a member of Student Ambassadors, Ridge link, National Honor Society, FCCLA, Key Club, Amnesty International, Frisbee club, and the tennis team. “I love being apart of so many clubs because I get to meet so many new people I wouldn’t have met otherwise” said Van Tassell.

One of the main clubs she is involved in is Student Ambassadors.  “One of my favorite things about student ambassadors is Baconators. For Baconators, we are able to go and play with the second graders at bacon elementary for 7th period every Thursday.  I always look forward to going to Bacon every week because it’s so fun to have a break from school and play with the little kids there” Said Van Tassell.

Since age eight, tennis has been her favorite sport. Due to her love of the sport, she has played on the fossil girls tennis team for 3 years now and she plans to play on the team this year as well. “One of my favorite things about tennis is the feeling of being out on the tennis court in the middle of a match and slamming an overhead for the win”said Van Tassell. Tennis has always been really fun but also competitive:  “on the tennis team, if you want to be the best you have to work really hard to get there.”

Off the tennis court, Van Tassell is also very determined to achieve her goals in school.  One of her big goals after high school is to go to BYU Hawaii. Van Tassell mentions “I really want to go to BYU Hawaii because of the cultural diversion, the change of scenery, and because  it’s out of state”.  To achieve this goal, Van Tassell has been working really hard throughout high school to earn good grades and be involved in as much as she can.

At home Van Tassell lives with her parents and her four siblings younger siblings. “I love to spend time with my family.  Some of my favorite things to do with my family are watch movies and go on fun trips to different countries” said Van Tassell.

In September of this year, she went down to Guatemala for a humanitarian trip with her dad and a group of dentists.  While she was there, she was able to learn a lot about different cultures. “Going to Guatemala was the most amazing thing I have ever experienced. It was amazing to see what other people live like in other countries” Said Van Tassell.   This group was able to go to a bunch of different towns all over Guatemala to do dentistry. She mentioned, “I felt so bad for everyone down there. If they had teeth, they were rotten, broken in half, and had multiple holes in them.  We took out tooth after tooth after tooth…” Going to Guatemala created a new passion for Van Tassell and she wants to go back to Guatemala to continue to help kids there.
