Six games into the season, the PSD Fire field hockey team have yet to win a single game, but are impressing in other ways than on the scoreboard. The team was away against Palmer Ridge, a team notorious for being a wrecking ball that no other team could stop.
The game was fast paced straight from the first face-off as Palmer took early control of the game in the first half, though the Fire heavily matched Palmer’s pace and kept up with their physicality. Palmer dominated both halves of the game on the scoreboard, finding the back of the net a staggering ten times in total. Despite the score, the Fire had the game in their hands in terms of field play and physicality; Fire player Mallory Kellum believed that “Palmer had gotten extremely frustrated and started to turn on each other because we were playing so hard.” Although the Fire did control the game on the field, Palmer Ridge controlled the game on the scoreboard and won by a final score of 10-0.
