DIY fall crafts

Thanksgiving is right around the corner and decorating your house may be a struggle when it comes to the holidays. DIY (Do It Yourself) crafts are a perfect solution to dress up your house with easy, fall decorations. Few supplies are needed for most DIY crafts and are fun to do.

The first craft you could use to decorate your house is a pistachio shell flower. You will need pistachio shells, hot glue, a cut out circle of card board, and paints if you wish to paint your flower. You don’t need very many pistachio shells it just depends how big or small you want your flower to be.

Once you have gathered all your supplies you will want to start placing your pistachio shells. First, start by placing them in the middle of the circle and place them on the hot glue in a spiral position. When using the hot glue, it is easier to place a lot on the circle so the shells don’t fall off and they are stable.

When you are placing the pistachio shells on the circle be sure to get them as close together as possible. This makes the flower look much better because you won’t be able to see any card board. Make sure to get the edges of the card board with the shells too. One tip that I recommend is to have all the shells facing the same direction throughout the entire craft. Once you are done your flower will look like this.

The next DIY craft you could make to brighten your house up for the fall season is a mason jar with leaves glued on to the jar. This craft is super simple and very pretty. The supplies you will need is a mason jar, leaves, mod podge (regular glue would work as well), and a paint brush.

First you want to start by placing a leave on the mason jar and put a layer of mod podge on it for it to stick. You want to put leaves all over the mason jar, you may want to leave some space so you can still see some of glass. I recommend getting leaves that aren’t crunchy or stiff so you can easily wrap them around the mason jar. Keep putting leaves on the jar till you are pleased with the way it looks.

Once you are done putting the leaves all over the jar, let the mod podge dry. If you would like you can place a candle inside, this makes the leaves glued to the jar look really cool. This would be a great decoration to have around the house or for a centerpiece at the dinner table.
