David Knuckey is congratulated after a goal.

The game started with Rocky mainly controlling the ball. Although there were some near goals for Rocky, the Fossil defensive line kept the ball away and Jackson Statkus kept driving it to the other side of the field. Rocky scored the first point of the evening, bringing the score to 0-1. Then the Fossil offensive line began to dominate the plays, as Colin Mangum had many close scores. David Knuckey scored twice, bringing Fossil into the lead with a score of 2-1. William Armstrong and Statkus were able to escape the Lobos defense, and after a shot was blocked by the goalkeeper Statkus scored. With Fossil leading by two points and less than a minute left in the half, Statkus scored again, followed by Rocky gaining another point. At half time, the score was at 4-2, with Fossil taking the lead.

Sebastian Bastille attempts a goal after getting past defense.

Dee White kicked off to begin the second half, and despite Fossil fighting, Rocky quickly gained possession of the ball. The half began to pick up the pace, although nobody scored in the first ten minutes. Offense for Fossil mostly dominated the field during this time. Armstrong and White constantly helped to get the ball towards the net, and Sebastian Bastille worked hard to keep possession against the defense. Armstrong then scored, bringing the score to 5-2. With only a few minutes left of the game, Rocky’s offense was close to scoring a few times, but Fossil’s defense put up a good fight. Fossil’s goalkeeper nearly missed stopping the ball after one shot, and Rocky scored again. The game ended with a victory for the Sabercats, beating Rocky 5-3.

Fossil will take on Fort Collins High School on April 24 at 7 p.m. They will be playing at Fossil. Make sure to congratulate a unified team member, and come support the team in their next game.
