Maddie Booton, Website Manager

Maddie Booton is 16 years old and is currently a Junior at Fossil Ridge Highschool. This is her 3rd year taking Journalism, she writes for the Art beat here at Fossil and also manages the Etched in Stone website. Maddie is also an older sister who is 10 and owns two cute dogs, named Lola who is 10 and Lala who is 7. 

 Bootons favorite class is psychology, another thing she enjoys is playing the piano in her free time. She loves to listen to music and specifically 70s and 80s music, her favorite artist to listen to is Elton john. Maddie enjoys english because it's a really easy subject to get through and she likes writing. Her favorite place to shop is American Eagle and enjoys the social aspect of meeting new people. Her goals for the future is to go to Colorado State University for the study of psychology.

The audience award went to A Mii-Meme-Ful Experience, a skit put on by Maggie Lei, Anthony Dupont, Alex Lei, Amy Plum, Alison Shad, Donna Than, Kevin Wong, Catherine Zhang, and Ryan Zhang. A silent but hilarious act set to music from various memes, the skit racked in the most votes at the end of the night.

Maria Cuddemi performed Til It Happens to You by Corinne Bailey Rae. She explained, I did this my freshman year and then Im doing this my senior year so its kind of like it came around. Ive know this song since ever... Its kind of soulful and I feel like that kind of fits my voice better than, like, Ariana Grande. Cuddemi won the judges vote and received a fifty dollar gift card.

Senior Natalie Liao performed Moment Musical No. 4, Presto, composed by Rachmaninoff. In her intro video, she explained that she had loved the musical piece since she was very young and was excited to play it in front of an audience.

Benjamin Lanham performed on original poem titled Clipped. Following a line about about wings being cut, he turned to expose angel wings on the back of his shirt. The poem was about growth and overcoming hardship.

Fossils club, Uke Revolution, covered Johnny Cashs Ring of Fire on the ukulele. Brya Bauer, Liam H. Flake, and Brayden Lake, all ukulele enthusiasts, sang and played their instruments. Club sponsor Lana Fain was thrilled.

Ester Jeong and Hannah Mullins played Beethovens Three Duets for Violin & Viola. Some students performed musical pieces as they had talents from classes in and outside of school.

Cole Mason performed Hometown Glory, an Adele song from 2007. He was a last minute entry and not on the program, but was an audience favorite.

Freshman Braden Sidwell performed a Tae Kwon Do routine. He has been doing Tae Kwon Do since he was four years old, and said, Its just one of those things that makes me unique from other people.

Anna Geraghty, a sophomore, performed Coldplays Viva la Vida. Singing and playing piano, Geraghty wowed the audience with her musical talent.

Brielle Hendersons act consisted of hula hooping, a skill she has only developed in the last year. This is the first time Ive done it to music before. I taught myself how to hula hoop at a family reunion and I did a class last year. Even if I crash and burn Ill do it in style, she laughed.

Seniors Julia Carter and Ragan Love performed Allegro & Minute for Two Flutes, a piece composed by Beethoven. Though playing a serious song, the students wore shark hats and silver ties.

Emma Williams performed With You from Ghost: The Musical. A senior, Williams was the first performer to sing in the show.

Hannah Rock, Fang’s Helper for the night, explained that, “[Adopt-A-Family] is important at Fossil so that we can give back to the community. Fang added, “Everyone deserves love at this time of year.”

Fang explained, “We’ve had a lot of hugs, and a lot of re-hugs.”

Erin Carson, one of two StuCo teachers, said her favorite part of the whole Adopt-A-Family process was, “This. This is my favorite part. Watching the families come, and the students get to interact with the families that are picking [the gifts] up, and seeing the little kids that are so happy. They get to see Santa. It’s a happy thing.”

Nearly one hundred families received gifts this year through Adopt-A-Family at Fossil and the Serve 6.8 nonprofit.

When asked what he wanted most for the holidays, Fang responded, “a Santa hat big enough to cover [my] head.”
